In this step by step guide, I will tell you how to write a good resume to increase your chances of landing a good job.
1. Keep information clear and simple- do not over complicate your experience or write long paragraphs about your experiences- summarise into 3 key bullet points and list 3 key skills you learnt
e.g. 2022-2023- Poly Gangnam
Skills: Communication, Organisation and time-management
- I learnt how to communicate effectively with different ages groups and tailor my language to fit the age
- Organisation- due to the volume of work, I create strategies to make sure I hit deadlines effectively and timely
- Time-management- I learnt how to pace my lessons to fit the time allotted but also think on my feet to adapt the lesson plan according to the class
2. Keep key information at the top
Employers do not need your full address or drivers license information or anything irrelevant to the job. Only include your location (e.g. Kansas, USA), phone number with country code and email
3. For Korean employers, include a professional photo either on the left or right hand side of the resume
4. keep your resume to one page max.. No one has time to read anymore
5. Structure it like this
1. Name
2. Contact Info
3. Short three line bio about yourself
4. Education- university degree name- university name- dates attended- any awards you receieved (e.g. honour roll)
5. List your experience with the most recent first, e.g.
Oct 2024-Oct 2025- Poly Hanam
Skills:
- skills 1 explaination
- skill 2 explaination
- skill 3 explanation
June 2023- June 2024- Poly Jeju
Skills:
- Skill 1
- skill 2
- skill 3
-------------------------------
Outside Qualifications:
Date- TEFL
Date- Google Certificate for Project Manager
Use either arial or times new roman font at a 12 pt size. Don't use a lot of colour, only one colour to highlight key information if you want.
Blocks or some fancy design only makes it harder to read your resume and makes the reader frustrated.
Also make sure if you are using a template, you have deleted all the latin fill in text
