About Us

Seoul Academy - Daechi is an accredited Grades 1-8 international school in Seoul's Daechi neighborhood, delivering a rigorous U.S.-based curriculum. Our faculty builds a supportive, challenging environment where students think critically, collaborate, and grow into responsible global citizens.

The Role

We are seeking a creative and dedicated Art Teacher to design and deliver an engaging, standards-based visual arts program for Grades 1-5. The ideal candidate builds age-appropriate lessons that develop technical skill, nurture creativity and self-expression, and ensure every student feels capable and included.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach a sequential, standards-based visual arts curriculum for Grades 1-5
  • Introduce students to a range of media, techniques, and art history and appreciation
  • Differentiate lessons and materials for diverse skill levels and needs
  • Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive studio environment that encourages experimentation and effort
  • Assess student progress in technique, creativity, and artistic growth, and provide constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists, including on school-wide events such as our annual art exhibition
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Manage and maintain art supplies, equipment, and studio facilities

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (any field)
  • Native or near-native English fluency
  • Valid visa (F2, F4, F5, F6) or Korean citizenship (no sponsorship available)
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Passion for and proficiency in a range of art media and techniques
  • Clear criminal background check

Preferred

  • Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
  • Master's in Education or a related field
  • Teaching certification (U.S., Canada, or Korea)
  • 2+ years of teaching experience, ideally in art or at the elementary level
  • Experience organizing student exhibitions or school-wide arts events

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary, negotiable and commensurate with experience and credentials
  • Korean National Health Insurance and National Pension enrollment
  • Severance pay on completion of a one-year contract
  • Six weeks paid vacation (eight after one year), plus national holidays
  • Daily lunch provided
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
