1. About the Role
You will lead general music instruction for students from Elementary Prep through Grade 8, building a vertically aligned program that takes learners from foundational musicianship to confident ensemble performance. Your classroom will balance singing, rhythm, music theory, instrument fundamentals, and music apprecition, with developmentally appropriate expectations at each level. Beyond the regular schedule, you will have the opportunity to lead an after-school orchestra program, shaping the school's instrumental culture and preparing students for school-wide performances and community events. The program follows U.S. national music education standards (NAfME / National Core Arts Standards), ensuring students develop musicianship aligned with international benchmarks.
Responsibilities
- Teach scheduled music classes for Elementary Prep, Grades 1-5, and Middle School (Gades 6-8) aligned with U.S. national music education standards (NAfME / National Core Arts Standards)
- Design developmentally appropriate units covering vocal technique, rhythm, theory, instrument basics, and listening
- Lead the after-school orchestra program (preferred), including rehearsal planning and concert preparation
- Organize and direct school performances, assemblies, and seasonal concerts
- Maintain instruments, sheet music library, and music classroom resources
- Assess student progress and communictae with parents in clear and accessible terms
- Collaborate with homeroom and subject teachers to integrate music into broader school events and curriculum
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification
- Minimum 2 years of classroom music teaching experience with elementary and middle school students
- Native or near-native English fluency
- Proficiency in piano
- Strong understanding of music pedagogy approaches (Orff, Kodály, Dalcroze, or equivalent)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, teachers, and parents
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting youth orchestra, string ensemble, or band
- Proficiency in at least one orchestral instrument
- Master's degree in Music Education or related field
- Experience in international school settings or multicultural environments
- Background in choral direction or musical theater production
- Conversational Korean (helpful for parent communication; not required)
2. Contract Period
1 year, renewable (Long-term employment available upon mutual agreement)
3. Work Conditions
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:30 (including lunch break)
- Location: Songdo International Global Campus, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea

Salary
Negotiable based on experience and qualifications
