Job Description

Elementary ELL Teacher

1. About the Role

You will lead English language instruction for elementary students (K7-G8) at Lausanne, where most learners arrive with Korean as their first language and a wide range of English proficiency — from emerging to near-fluent. Your work will move each student forward at their level through pull-out support, working in close coordination with homeroom teachers. This is a full-time position with one direct line of accountability: that students leave each year demonstrably more capable in academic English than when they arrived.

Responsibilities

  • Teach daily ELL classes grouped by proficiency level (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Grammar)

  • Assess incoming and ongoing student proficiency (MAP or equivalent) and adjust groupings each term

  • Co-plan with homeroom and subject teachers so language objectives align with content learning

  • Communicate progress to parents in clear and accessible terms (translation support available)

  • Contribute to ELL curriculum review, resource selection, and assessment design

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field

  • Valid teaching license or certification

  • Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with elementary and middle school age English learners

  • Native or near-native English fluency

  • Ability to design differentiated instruction based on students’ language proficiency levels

  • Strong understanding of literacy development, including phonics, reading, and writing instruction

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, teachers, and parents

Preferred Qualifications

  • TESOL/TEFL certification or ESL endorsement

  • Experience in international school settings or multicultural environments

  • Conversational Korean (helpful for parent communication; not required)

2. Contract Period

  • 1 year, renewable (Long-term employment available upon mutual agreement)

3. Work Conditions

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 ~ 17:30 (including lunch break)

  • Location: Songdo International City Global Campus, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea

4. Required Documents

  • Resume (CV) — with recent photo
  • Cover Letter — including teaching philosophy and motivation
  • Degree Certificate and Transcripts (official, in English)
  • Teaching License/Certification (if applicable)
  • Two professional references
  • Reference calls may be conducted as part of the recruitment process

5. How to Apply
