ABOUT PEAI

 

PEAI is an English academy located in Daechi-dong, Seoul, South Korea (Gangnam). Since 2006, PEAI has dedicated itself to enhancing creative and critical thinking amongst grade 2-9 students through student-centered, project-based learning, producing some of the finest students in Korea. We’re committed to championing students, promoting higher order thinking, and cultivating independent, self-driven learners while creating a communal working environment for teachers.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

We are looking for teachers who value creative and critical thinking, teachers who can collaborate with co-teachers to run project-based learning, and teachers who are able to work autonomously, having the freedom to execute lesson plans as they see fit. If our ethos resonates, we are looking for you~

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

  1. Full Time Position available JULY  2024 (Training starts in JUNE)

  2. Teach subjects such as Literature, Writing, Social Studies, Debate.

  3. Design and organize creative projects, meaningful activities, and formal debates.

  4. Work Hours:

  • Grade 2: 2:30-7:50 M-F (5 teaching hours)

  • Grade 3-4: 3;20-9:40 M-F (6 teaching hours)

  • Grade 5-6: 3:30-9:50 M-F (6 teaching hours)

  • Classes are split into 2 blocks with a 20 minute break between blocks. Also, teachers could take a 5 minute break each hour when needed.

  • One hour early presence before class is required.

  • Optional Saturday classes depending on type of contract chosen.

  1. Set Curriculum: Initial lesson plans are supervised and mentored for two weeks.  Afterwards, teachers will design their own lesson plans.  

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Previous teaching experience at Seoul (preferably Gangnam) based academies preferred. 

  2. English literature or humanities majors desired (debate teaching experience is preferred).

  3. The ability to construct and organize own lesson plans.

  4. Legally able to work in Korea with an F or E2 visa.

  5. Possess a 4 year university degree from a Native English speaking country.

 

COMPENSATION

 

  • Option 1

  • 4 million won for 30 teaching hours from Monday-Friday.   

  • 11 paid vacation days (6 days designated by the academy + 5 personal days)

 

  • Option 2

  • 4.5 million won for 33 teaching hours from Monday-Friday, plus Saturday 10am-1 pm   

  •  12 paid vacation days (6 days designated by the academy + 5 personal days)

  • Both options should be viewed as starting salaries. Based on experience, salary can be negotiated.

  • All prospective teachers will undergo a two week training period. (Training schedule is flexible) All training will be paid.


 

BENEFITS

 

  • Severance pay after completion of 1 year

  • All national holidays off

  • Medical coverage: 50/50, pension plan: 50/50

  • F visas have the option for signing as independent contractors.
