Job Description
1. Role and Responsibilities
You will be a JES Island teacher for our Kindergarten students and teach a few elementary classes in the afternoon. Follow the premade curriculum, but also use your creativity and imagination to make the classes more fun and enjoyable for the students.
You will be responsible for the following:
• Teach phonics, pronunciation, and basic reading and writing skills
• Sing, dance, roleplay, and create art with students
• Follow a textbook and syllabus for easy lesson prep
• Add your own activities to help students learn better
• Meet learning goals and track student improvement
• Attend meetings, workshops, and special events required by the institute
• Actively engage students in the learning process.
• Recognize the needs of individual students and the entire group.
2. Candidate Qualifications
All candidates must;
• Native English Speaker
• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Holds or is eligible for the E-2 visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship
• F-visa holders
• Apostilled Diploma and Criminal Background Check
• Must be physically and mentally healthy.
3. Working Conditions
• Student Type: Kindergarten and Elementary (Age 5 - Grade 6)
• Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:10 A.M. - 6:10 P.M.
Kindergarten classes in the morning and early afternoon (up to 3:00 P.M.). Elementary classes for the late afternoon.
• Teaching Hours: 30 or 32 hours per week (Salary adjusted depending on contracted teaching hours)
• Prep Time: Up to 1 hour per day
• Break Hour: 1 hour per day
• Class Time: 30 minutes per kindergarten class & 50 minutes per elementary class
• Class Size: Max. 12 students per class
• Curriculum provided. Teachers create own lesson plans per week based on set materials and curriculum for the month.
• Non-Teaching Duties: Weekly teacher meetings. Student evaluations every 3 months. Homework grading. Classroom decoration.
• Special Events: Parent Conferences, 1:1 Meetings (Korean teacher handles all parent communication), Open Class
• Lunch: Native English teachers may be requested to eat with students once or twice a week. If they do eat with students, those hours will be counted as worked hours.
• Teacher Training: Provided
• Teaching Staff: 12 Native English Teachers
Salary
2.4 million KRW monthly and up(negotiable)
Benefits
• Insured with the 4 National Insurances.
• Severance Pay: Paid upon the completion of employment (minimum 1-year contract)
• Vacation: 11 days a year plus Korean National Holidays (10 days set by the school. 1 day can be used after discussion).
• Airfare: One-way reimbursed up to 1 million won upon completion of a 1-year contract.
• Contract Completion Bonus: 1 million won for those who complete a 1-year contract
Housing
Housing Provided, Housing Allowance Provided
Single housing provided near Hanyang University area.
Or teachers can take 600,000 won as housing allowance instead.
