Benedem Education of Seoul is seeking a passionate and nurturing Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher to join our innovative international elementary school team starting mid-July, starting our Grade 4 program (June 23–July 11). This full-time role supports young learners in developing strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills through project-based and student-centered learning. Key Responsibilities: Instruction & Classroom Leadership Teach all core subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) to a Grade 1 class. Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with curriculum standards. Differentiate instruction to support a variety of learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs). Create a positive and inclusive classroom culture rooted in kindness, curiosity, and mutual respect. Integrate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into daily routines and classroom instruction. Assessment & Feedback Use formative and summative assessments to monitor academic and social growth. Provide regular, meaningful feedback to students and parents. Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reports. Approaches to Learning (Aligned with IB PYP Practices) We seek teachers who explicitly develop: Thinking Skills – Encourage creativity, exploration, and problem-solving. Communication Skills – Support early literacy and confident self-expression. Social Skills – Guide students in collaboration, empathy, and turn-taking. Self-Management Skills – Build routines, organization, and independence. Research Skills – Foster curiosity through inquiry and discovery learning. Classroom Community & Well-Being Serve as a homeroom teacher with responsibility for daily check-ins, routines, and relationship-building. Support students’ emotional well-being through empathy, consistency, and proactive strategies. Partner with families to support learning and growth both at school and at home. Collaboration & Communication Communicate regularly with parents through newsletters, emails, and meetings. Work closely with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units and share resources. Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and school community events. Professional Growth Engage in ongoing professional development. Reflect on teaching practices and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation. Additional Duties Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other transitions. Lead or assist in an after-school club, activity, or seasonal program. Take part in school events such as Open Houses, exhibitions, and Parent-Teacher Conferences (2–3 times per year). Perform other responsibilities as assigned by school leadership. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s preferred) Valid teaching certificate/license from an English-speaking country or equivalent international certification Experience: Minimum 2 years of teaching experience with early elementary students Experience with ELLs, inclusive practices, and SEL integration is highly desirable Skills: Excellent communication and classroom management skills Ability to foster a joyful and structured learning environment Familiarity with project-based learning and early literacy/numeracy strategies Growth-oriented, collaborative, and culturally sensitive mindset Working Conditions: Full-time teaching position in a supportive school environment Dedicated classroom with projector, teacher workspace, and access to teaching resources Application Process: Interested candidates should submit the following: A cover letter describing your teaching philosophy and experience A current resume/CV Copies of teaching certificates and licenses Contact information for two professional references ** Please send applications to: lee.j@benedem.org
