Cheonan is a vibrant and growing city, which serves as a gateway to Chungcheongnam-do and is 83.6 kilometers (51.9 mi) south of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. It is flanked by the Charyeong Mountains to the east, while the west is characterized by plains and rolling hills. The city enjoys a four-season weather cycle, with moderately high summer temperatures and moderately low temperatures and snowfall in winter. Cheonan is a perfect blend of city and country life, providing a comfortable and relaxed living environment for native English teachers who are seeking employment.

Cheonan is well connected to Seoul by road and train, with the KTX high-speed railway and the Gyeongbu Line serving the city's Korail station. The Seoul Subway Line 1 also extends to Cheonan. In addition to transportation, the city offers a wide range of cultural and educational amenities, including a number of colleges and universities, such as Kongju National University's Cheonan campus, Korea Nazarene University, and Soonchunhyang University. There are also several galleries and museums, including the Independence Hall of Korea, a visual history of the struggle for independence in Korea, and the Postal Museum.

Cheonan is also known for its beautiful parks, such as Samgeori Park, which is a strategic point of transportation and a place where culture has spread for a long time, and Taejosan Park, which is located at Mt. Taejosan and covers an area of over 327,000 square meters. The park offers a sculpture park, six camp sites, a grass field, tennis courts, and an outdoor performance area.

Cheonan's food culture is also not to be missed. It is known for small walnut-shaped and flavored cakes, or hodugwaja, which are produced in the area, and several agricultural products, including melons, grapes, and ya pears. There are also many local festivals, such as the Heungtaryeong Festival, a dancing festival that showcases Korean music and traditional dances from around the world.
