Afternoon English Program Instructor (Full-Time)
About the Role We are seeking confident and motivated educators to join our Afternoon English Program faculty at SIE Central. This role requires someone with strong English proficiency who is prepared to teach engaging after-school courses for elementary and middle school students. The ideal candidate can deliver high-quality instruction in English Language Arts and related subjects, while maintaining positive relationships with students and families. Primary Responsibilities Teaching & Curriculum Teach a full course load of Literature (Novel Study), Writing, Debate, Grammar, and TOEFL preparation Plan and deliver lessons that support language growth, critical thinking, and effective communication skills Develop and follow syllabi that align with program goals Use a variety of assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Communicate regularly and frequently with parents by phone in order to give updates on student progress Student Engagement & Support Maintain a classroom environment that is respectful, inclusive, and conducive to learning Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their development in reading, writing, and speaking Communicate regularly with parents, including scheduled phone consultations, regarding student progress and expectations Collaboration & Professionalism Work closely with colleagues to ensure curriculum consistency and student support across the program Participate in staff meetings and school initiatives as needed Contribute to the school’s mission and community by supporting events and enrichment opportunities Ideal Candidate We’re looking for someone who: Has experience teaching English to elementary and middle school students Values interactive and student-centered learning Can manage classes independently and maintain strong communication with families Brings a positive, collaborative attitude to a team-oriented environment Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher At least 2 years of English teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level Near-native English proficiency and ability to conduct classes 100% in English Fluency in Korean Preferred: Majors in English Language and Literature, Education, Applied Linguistics, or TESOL Prior experience in international schools or foreign school settings Position Details Location: Seongdong-gu, Seoul (near Oksu Station) Start Date: Mid-November (negotiable) Working Hours: Monday - Friday: 3:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Teaching Hours: 20 hours/week (maximum 23 hours) Benefits Paid vacation during institute breaks (spring, summer, and winter; 4–5 days each) Severance pay in accordance with Korean labor law Hiring Process Document screening Executive interview and teaching demonstration Final acceptance Candidates will be notified individually regarding interview schedules.
