Location Description
Gwangju-si, also known as Gyeonggi-Gwangju, is a city located in the eastern part of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. While it is in close proximity to cities like Seongnam, Seoul, and Hanam, Gwangju-si has not developed as extensively due to environmental regulations surrounding the Paldang Dam. Nevertheless, the city's population is gradually increasing through frequent small-scale developments.
With a population of approximately 390,000, Gwangju-si offers various attractions and amenities for residents and visitors alike. Namhansanseong, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a historical fortress built during the Joseon Dynasty. Visitors can explore the fortress and learn about its rich history through guided tours or self-exploration. Hwadam Forest, an ecological arboretum, provides a picturesque natural environment with festivals and events held throughout the year. The forest is easily accessible via a monorail that offers scenic views. Also, Gonjiam Resort is a popular destination for skiing, snowboarding, and swimming.
