Founded in 2009, EL Ellin is an English academy in Ilsan, Goyang, with programs for kindergarten and elementary students. Our philosophy is “Don’t learn English, learn in English.”

Our classrooms are built around conversation. Teachers ask plenty of questions, give children time to think, and invite them to respond to one another. In a science lesson, you might ask, “What do you think will happen?” and then test their ideas together. During a story discussion, you might ask, “What makes you think that?” and give children a chance to explain their reasoning in English.

We’re looking for teachers who enjoy that kind of back-and-forth. We want children to ask their own questions, talk through their ideas, and work with their teacher and classmates to find answers. As they gain confidence, they move from short answers to explaining their thinking in complete sentences. In our elementary program, students build on that foundation through reading, discussion, and writing.

Our team includes six native English-speaking teachers who have been with EL Ellin for an average of at least three years. They work alongside Korean co-teachers and English-speaking staff, with a shared curriculum, textbooks, and detailed teaching guides.

Our leadership team takes an active role in supporting teachers. When something is making your work harder, we start by asking what’s happening and what would help. We talk through the options with you and do our best to make changes that address the problem. We also ask for teachers’ input when making decisions that affect their classrooms and day-to-day work.
