Job Description

 

1. Roles and Responsibilities

 

MICA is seeking a highly qualified, organized, and professional candidate to serve as a Librarian. The School Librarian is responsible for the effective management and operation of the school library, supporting students and staff by maintaining a well-organized, accessible, and engaging learning environment. The librarian plays a key role in promoting literacy, research skills, and responsible library usage within the school community.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

• Oversee the daily operation and supervision of the school library during designated hours, including library and chapel periods
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming library environment
• Ensure proper student behavior in accordance with school policies
• Perform cataloging, classification, and indexing of all library materials
• Manage registration and organization of books and textbooks
• Maintain accurate inventory and stock records
• Coordinate bookbinding, repair, and procurement
• Manage book and textbook lending and returns
• Track overdue materials and maintain accurate borrowing records
• Organize and maintain all library documentation
• Assist students with book searches and library usage
• Provide guidance using ATOS and Lexile reading levels
• Recommend books and provide information on popular and available titles
• Communicate with students, staff, and parents when necessary regarding library usage
• Participate in staff and parent meetings as required
• Perform other library-related duties as assigned by the school

 

 

Professional Expectations & Conduct
 

• Adhere strictly to working hours and report any schedule changes in advance
• Follow school dress code and maintain professional conduct
• Ensure student safety and actively prevent accidents
• Guide students to follow school rules and safety policies
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the library
• Respect cultural diversity and apply appropriate educational approaches
• Report absences due to illness in advance and provide documentation if required
• Attend required meetings and fulfill responsibilities diligently
• Submit emergency contact information and vacation plans prior to school breaks as required


 
2. Candidate Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (Library Science, Education, or related field preferred)
• Korean citizens or F-Series visa holders
• Korean citizens must be able to teach using fluent English.
• Experience in a school or academic library setting preferred

• Familiarity with library systems and reading level frameworks (ATOS, Lexile)

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively with students

 

 
3. Working Conditions


Working hours are described as the time you need to be present at the institution. Teaching hours are the active amount of time you will be conducting classes or activities.


• Working Hours: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 A.M. – 12:40 P.M

 

Salary

Negotiable, based on qualifications and experience
