Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is a growing K-12 school that is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.

 

A positive school climate is characterized by quality teaching by instructors and effective learning by students. This requires a safe environment for all who work in and attend SPAS along with an emphasis on citizenship and adherence to rules applied equitably and fairly to all in the Saint Paul Scholars community. We believe that parents are essential partners in the educational process and must be properly involved and accountable for the achievement and behavior of their children.  Saint Paul American Scholars is seeking a qualified and experienced administrator to fill the role of Principal for SPAS (Bundang and Dongtan Campus. The current Gwanggyo campus will be integrated into Bundang)

 

A strong Principal candidate will be detail-oriented, have both long-range and short-range planning abilities, excellent public speaking skills, familiarity with structures needed for administrative and educational support in mid-sized schools, and have experience with new projects and new initiatives in previous roles. SPAS will begin interviews as we receive candidates for interviews in-person for candidates located in South Korea.  We will interview candidates aboard who have excellent potential to fill this role. We will close the position once it is filled.  Fundamental skills for this role include:
 

Teacher Leadership & Mentorship

  • Applicants with teaching experience are preferred 

Scheduling Experience

  • Designing, creating, and checking student and teacher schedules

In-depth, hands on experience with Online LMS

  • SPAS will designate the school's LMS for implementation at Ansan

AP School/American-Based Curriculum/Standards Familiarity 

  • SPAS is a PreAP/AP school

Energy and Enthusiasm

  • SPAS is looking for energetic candidates with previous experience in administration - candidates with no previous school operation experience will not be considered for this role

Data-Minded

  • Candidates who have utilized educational data in decision making are preferred (MAP/SR/AR/WIDA etc.)

Professional Degree

  • We are considering only candidates with administrative degrees/masters degrees in education

Strong Background & Proven Track Record 

  • We are only accepting candidates who can provide 3 letters of recommendation from former and their current employers 

Holistic Student Focus

  • All candidates must support Social-Emotional Learning and a holistic view of students

Detail-Oriented and Organized 

  • Candidates must have strong organizational abilities

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of a master's degree from an accredited institution 

    • Preferred Majors: School Administration, Education Administration, Education Leadership, Curriculum Design, Teaching and Learning, etc.  

  • Hold an E7, F-4 or other F visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship or Korean citizenship

  • Apostilled Diploma and Criminal Background Check (if applicable) 

  • Leadership Experience (ie. Dean of Students, Academic Coordinator, Academic Director, Vice Principal): More than 3-5 years
