Location Description

Gwangmyeong-si is a city located in the western part of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

It shares borders with several other cities, including Seoul's Guro-gu and Geumcheon-gu to the north and east, Anyang-si to the southeast, Bucheon-si to the northwest, and Siheung-si to the southwest.

The city was initially developed and designed with the intention of being integrated into Seoul.

However, due to the government's efforts to distribute population growth away from Seoul, Gwangmyeong-si became a satellite city instead.

While it is technically part of the Gyeonggi Western Region, Gwangmyeong-si has a stronger urban identity that is heavily influenced by Seoul's Yeongdeungpo-gu.
