Created in 1960, SLP has been perpetuating the education philosophies of Sogang University to provide education inspired by the Catholic faith and in line with Korean educational traditions. Seogang SLP was established based on Seogang University's philosophy of English education, which has been passed down since 1960. Although policies on education and entrance exams change from time to time, the nature of English education remains unchanged.

In order for students to take English classes, they had to be able to communicate in English as well as organize and express their thoughts in English. Students at Sogang University, at that time, were able to develop differentiated English skills from other university students. SLP aims to help children develop and face any challenges they may come across as they grow. At SLP we want our students to not only perform well in exams but also be able to think, act and dream in English. We focus more on who we teach rather than what we teach so that our students can be able to function in society with valuable personalities.
