Middle School Math and Science Teacher (Grades 5-8)

Location: Benedem Education of Seoul, Seoul, South Korea Job Type: Full-time Department: Middle School Reports To: Principal/Head of School Location: Benedem Education of Seoul Benedem Education of Seoul is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Math and Science Teacher to join our growing and innovative academic team. This role covers instruction for students in Grades 5 through 8 and welcomes candidates with either a Math or Science background who are confident teaching both subjects at the middle school level. While a formal STEM degree is not required, the ideal candidate should have strong subject knowledge, experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs), and a genuine passion for fostering Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) alongside academic growth. Key Responsibilities: Instruction & Classroom Leadership Teach Math and/or Science across middle school grades (5–8), adapting content to student needs. Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and learning standards. Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Integrate SEL strategies into daily teaching routines and classroom culture. Assessment & Feedback Regularly assess student learning through both formative and summative assessments. Track and report student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback. Use student data to differentiate instruction and meet diverse learning needs. SEL & Student Well-Being Implement SEL-focused activities, especially during morning homeroom/advisory sessions. Support students’ emotional development and well-being through relationship-building, empathy, and reflection. Model positive behavior and guide students in developing strong interpersonal and self-regulation skills. Approaches to Learning - IB MYP Skills **We are looking for qualified teachers to teach ATL skills explicitly Thinking Skills: Foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation in students. Encourage students to transfer knowledge and skills across various subjects and real-world situations. Communication Skills: Develop students' ability to express themselves confidently and clearly in various modes. Social Skills: Promote collaboration, teamwork, and effective interpersonal relationships. Self-management Skills: Encourage organization, effective management, and reflective practices in students. Research Skills: Teach information literacy and media literacy, guiding students to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively. Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students’ academic and behavioral progress. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment. Participate in department, school, and parent meetings. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends and best practices. Participate in training and development sessions. Additional Duties: Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including during lunch and recess. Participate in extracurricular activities, school functions, and community events. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration. Conduct one after-school class Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Valid teaching certification/license for the state of [Eng-speaking countries] or equivalent international certification. Experience: Proven experience as a middle school teacher, preferably in an international school setting. Experience with diverse student populations and inclusion practices. Experience integrating SEL into the curriculum is highly desirable. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in using technology and educational software for instruction. Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Ability to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to lift and move objects Working Conditions: Work is performed in a classroom and school environment. Occasional evening work may be required for school events.
