Location Description

Suwon is the capital and largest city of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea's most populous province which surrounds Seoul, located about 30 km (19 mi) south of Seoul. Its  population is close to 1.3 million. It is the only remaining completely walled city in South Korea. The city walls are one of the more popular tourist destinations in Gyeonggi Province. Samsung Electronics R&D center and headquarters are in Suwon. The city is served by three motorways, the national railway network, and the Seoul Metropolitan Subway.

Suwon is also home to Gwanggyo Lake Park. This is a lake park that was built with a new town established in Gwanggyo. The Park is the largest size among the lake parks in Korea. Gwanggyo Lake Park consists of seven zones centered around Woncheon Lake and Sindae Lake including Urban Levee, Community Forest and Mysterious Mulneomi, each of which is designed for various events, picnic and walking. Most of the facilities in the park have been built in a way to preserve the existing lakes and forests. For this reason, Gwanggyo Lake Park boasts more beautiful landscape than any other man-made parks which are artificially designed from beginning to end.

Galleria Gwanggyo is the best lifestyle complex in Korea with a total area of 150,000 square meters. It is composed of a large-scale convention center, luxury officetels, hotels, and an aquarium. Galleria Gwanggyo will become a new landmark in Suwon as an ‘Urban Promenade’ that connects the lake park and a multi-complex consisting of exhibitions, cultural arts and entertainment facilities as well as shopping.
