Job Description
Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.

We believe that parents are essential partners in the educational process and must be properly involved and accountable for the achievement and behavior of their children.
Saint Paul American Scholars is seeking organized and structured individuals to fill upcoming openings as G1-G5 ESL Elementary Homeroom Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year.

This role is full-time and will include instruction in elementary math, art, English, and social studies. We are interested in educators with excellent classroom management tools, and who have several positive behavior reinforcement strategies, as well as being adept at communicating with grade-level partners and PLCs for data analysis. All of our teachers are responsible for assigning and evaluating daily homework, using rubrics and data to drive assessment decisions, and creating trusting connections with students and parents.

Responsibilities Overview
• Follow the format and expectations provided by SPAS to create a syllabus, unit plans, rubrics, and weekly lesson plans for students
• Utilize standards as the foundation of teaching objectives:
o CCSS (ELA and Math), NGSS (Science), and AERO (Social Studies)
• Plan regular and consistent homework assignments and provide feedback/corrections
• Create tests and projects to measure and ensure student learning
• Plan one midterm and one final exam every year for each subject taught
• Prepare progress reports and report cards at the end of each term
• Attend and participate in faculty and staff meetings
• Take part in PTCs (Parent-Teacher Conferences) and speak/discuss with parents regarding their children
• Attend official SPAS functions as outlined on the calendar
Requirements
• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Hold an F-4 or other F visa with USA, CAN, UK, AUS, NZ, IRE, or SA citizenship or Korean citizenship
• Apostilled Diploma and Criminal Background Check
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred
• Major: Education, Science Education, Adolescent Education, or a Science specialty with a teaching certificate
Working Conditions
• Teaching Age: Elementary School(G1-G5)
• Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:40 A.M. - 4:40 P.M.
• Teaching Hours: 25 contact hours per week
• After School Activities/Coaching: 2 days per week (included in contact hours)
• Students per Class: 15 students max
• Contract Length: 1 year
• Language of Instruction: English
• Teacher Training: 2 weeks of onboarding and in-service training which includes prep time and team building
• Professional Development: In-house PDs up to three times a year, stipends available for out-sourced PDs and degrees
• Mentorship: Our School Principal is an active mentor for our staff and will provide mentoring for your degree/certificate program
Salary
Competitive and based on a salary scale contingent on years of experience, degrees, and certificates
